The Liberty had won two in a row before suffering a tough 100-65 road loss against the Aces last night. Kia Nurse led the Liberty with 12 points and they shot just 32.4 percent (22-for-68) and a poor 3-for-21 (14.3 percent) from beyond the arc and turned the ball over 15 times, while the Aces were 33-for-61 from the field (54.1 percent).
Chelsea Gray had 21 points and a season-high nine assists to help the Sparks beat the Mercury 85-68 last night. Los Angeles outscored Phoenix 24-14 in the third quarter and they shot 51.5 percent. Gray, who is averaging a career-high 16.5 points per game, was 4-for-6 from 3-point range and Nneka Ogwumike scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half.
Gray scored a career-high 29 points for a Sparks team that rallied from five down with 4:42 left in the game to score 10 consecutive points and get a 78-73 road win against the Liberty on June 4.
Tina Charles (19.1 points per game) had 21 points for the Liberty in that first meeting with the Sparks but she was held to six points against the Aces and she's averaging just 9.0 points in her last two games.
