The St. Louis Blues clash with the Boston Bruins in a decisive Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Wednesday, June 12 at 8:00 PM ET
The Bruins faced elimination in a hostile environment but were able to even the series after Sunday's 5-1 win in St. Louis. Tuukka Rask and Brad Marchand stepped up in the victory. Rask had 28 saves for a 96.6 save percentage and Marchand had a goal and an assist.
Rask has played like an MVP in the playoff, posting at least a .900 save percentage in all 23 starts and he's certainly a candidate for the Conn Smythe Trophy, regardless of the outcome of tonight's game.
David Pastrnak scored a goal and added an assist for a Bruins team that outshot the Blues 32-29. Boston had two power play opportunities while St. Louis had four. The Blues won 37 faceoffs against 26 by the Bruins.
Ryan O'Reilly scored the only goal for the Blues on Sunday. O'Reilly has been a difference-maker with four goals in the last three games and he's another player to watch tonight.
History is on Boston's side, home teams are 12-4 all-time in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, but they've lost the last two such games (the Canucks lost to the Bruins in 2011 and the Red Wings lost to the Penguins in 2009).
It took a Zdeno Chara empty netter with under three minutes left to get Game 6 Over the total and only one of the last 16 Stanley Cup Final Game 7s has had more than five goals scored. In 13 of those 16 games the teams combined to score four or fewer goals and tonight both teams will step up on defense.
