James Paxton will make his ninth start of the season, going on six days' rest due to a postponement last Thursday and a scheduled off day on Monday.
Paxton last started on May 29 against the Padres, tossing four hitless and scoreless innings, issuing two walks with seven strikeouts to get a no-decision in a 7-0 win.
The left-hander was reinstated from the injured list prior to the game after missing 23 contests due to left knee inflammation from May 4-28. The 30-year-old is 3-3 with a 4.54 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP in six career starts against the Blue Jays and 3-1 with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in four starts at the Rogers Centre, including a no-hitter.
Trent Thornton will be making his 13th start of the season. He gave up three earned runs on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings to get a no-decision in a 4-3 loss against the Rays last Wednesday and this will be first career appearance against the Yankees.
