The Royals were able to avoid a three-game sweep against the Yankees with an 8-7 win yesterday thanks to a Whit Merrifield RBI single in the 10th inning while the White Sox lost three straight against the Twins.
The White Sox went 2-5 in their seven-game road trip against the Astros and Twins and they're now 23-29, third in the American League Central, 13 behind Minnesota for first place. The Royals are just 4-7 in their last 11 games and they're in last place in the American League Central, 18 games behind the Twins.

Ivan Nova allowed three earned runs on 10 hits (one home run) and one walk with three strikeouts over seven innings in a 9-4 win against the Astros last Wednesday and the White Sox have won four of his last five starts.

Still, these are below average numbers.
Bailey is 1-2 with a 5.91 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP in four day starts and he will face the White Sox for the first time in his career.
Nova has struggled at home, going 0-2 with an awful 16.36 ERA and a 2.82 WHIP in three starts at Guaranteed Rate Field this season and he's 2-1 with a 5.57 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP in four career starts against the Royals.
