The Royals were able to avoid a three-game sweep against the Yankees with an 8-7 win yesterday thanks to a Whit Merrifield RBI single in the 10th inning while the White Sox lost three straight against the Twins.

The White Sox went 2-5 in their seven-game road trip against the Astros and Twins and they're now 23-29, third in the American League Central, 13 behind Minnesota for first place. The Royals are just 4-7 in their last 11 games and they're in last place in the American League Central, 18 games behind the Twins.
