The Miami Heat try to keep their playoff hopes alive when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night.

The Heat chose the worst time to have a four-game losing streak, as they trail the Pistons by one game for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons have also lost their last four games, which has kept the Heat and the Hornets alive. Charlotte is tied with the Heat in ninth place but they've won three in a row.
There's two games left in the season and the Heat control no tiebreakers, which means that they have to win out and hope that the Pistons lose both of their games, although they play the Grizzlies and Knicks, who have a combined record of 48-112 while the Heat visit the Nets on Wednesday. The Heat also need the Hornets to lose at least one of their two games (at Cleveland and at home against the Magic).
Jimmy Butler has missed three of the last four games due to back tightness but other than that the 76ers are healthy and they're a tough, deep and talented team but they already locked up the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference and they could rest some of their starters, including Joel Embiid, lightening the load on Adebayo and Whiteside.
The Philadelphia 76ers are:
3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing straight up record
5-12 ATS in their last 17 games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game
3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up win of more than 10 points
3-8 ATS in their last 11 games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game
The Miami Heat are:
9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against Atlantic Division opponents
8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS loss
It wouldn't surprise me if the 76ers rest multiple players and not exactly put their best foot forward in order to win. Going up against a team with nothing to play for can be a rare blessing for a Heat team desperate to catch any break they can get and with this being Dwyane Wade last regular season home game and potentially his last home game ever, the electric atmosphere and emotions can help the Heat win a game that means much more to them.
