The banged up New York Yankees look to bounce back from a tough loss yesterday when they host the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon and even though Jonathan Loaisiga struggled in Spring Training, facing Matthew Boyd and an anemic offense will help them.

The Tigers and Yankees traded 3-1 decisions in the first two games of the series. The Yankees won on Monday behind home runs from Gary Sanchez and Brett Gardner while the Tigers got some payback yesterday when Dustin Peterson hit a tiebreaking RBI double off Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning.
Without Didi Gregorius (right elbow), Aaron Hicks (back), Giancarlo Stanton (strained left biceps) and Miguel Andujar (torn labrum in right shoulder), the Yankees are struggling at the plate, hitting .242 and scoring 19 runs. As bad as the Yankees have been, the Tigers are even worse, hitting just .169 (29th in the majors) and scoring just 10 runs.
Matthew Boyd (0-1, 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) vs. Jonathan Loaisiga (2-0, 5.11 ERA, 1.54 WHIP last season)
Matthew Boyd will make his second start of the season for the Tigers. The left-hander gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk over five innings of a 6-0 loss against the Blue Jays last Friday.
Jonathan Loaisiga takes the hill for the Yankees. He was 2-0 with a 5.11 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP in nine games (four starts) last season and he went 2-1 with a 6.75 ERA in 16 innings over six games (five starts) in Spring Training.
The Detroit Tigers are:
31-64 in their last 95 games overall
16-38 in their last 54 road games
1-7 in their last eight Wednesday games
5-17 in Boyd's last 22 road starts
The New York Yankees are:
75-36 in their last 111 home games
38-14 in their last 52 games following a loss
