Herediano vs. Atlanta United Betting Line & Prediction

*Note: All odds posted by Jazz Sports

Herediano (+211) vs. Atlanta United (+136)

Draw: +219

Over/Under: 2.5

After winning the Costa Rican Torneo de Apertura 2018 Final against Saprissa on December 23, Herediano has struggled to start the Torneo de Clausura 2019, mostly because star goalkeeper Leonel Moreira was signed by Pachuca, their best midfielder Allan Cruz recently joined new MLS team FC Cincinnati and star forward Yendrick Ruiz just signed with Bolivian team Oriente Petrolero.

Those departures, combined with an injury to up-and-coming midfielder Jimmy Marín have hurt Herediano tremendously but they recently signed former 2014 World Cup star Yeltsin Tejeda and he can make a difference and contribute right away.

Atlanta United won the 2018 MLS Cup in just their second season in the league and their already stacked roster recently improved with the additions of defender Florentin Pogba, Paul Pogba's brother and midfielder Gonzalo "Pity" Martinez, who won the 2018 Copa Libertadores with River Plate but they have a new head coach in Frank de Boer.

The new MLS season starts until March 3, just after their Round of 16 games against Herediano and having a new head coach with little time to prepare the team isn't easy. The Costa Rican team will have a significant edge when it comes to rhythm of play, not to mention that Jimmy Marín will be available tonight but I know them very well since they're my favorite team and I'm not comfortable backing them here, so I'll go with the value and take the draw.
