Deportivo Saprissa (+261) vs. Tigres UANL (+114)
Deportivo Saprissa faces Mexican giants Tigres UANL, the team that no one wanted to encounter at this stage. Tigres lost against Pumas in the quarterfinals of the Liga MX Torneo de Apertura 2018 but their roster is very talented and experienced, led by French goalscorer André-Pierre Gignac, who didn't travel to Costa Rica though.
Saprissa lost the Torneo de Apertura 2018 against Herediano, with their lack of depth on offense and poor coaching costing them in the end. The team had a shaky start in the Torneo de Clausura 2019 so they added Honduran striker Rubilio Castillo, who shined with Motagua and they brought John Jairo Ruiz back, just before firing their head coach Vladimir Quesada and replacing him with former team idol Wálter Centeno, a move that has paid dividends already, although against sub-par opponents for now.
Centeno didn't have much time to work with Saprissa ahead of these games against Tigres and with the first Leg being played in Costa Rica, they need to get a comfortable win in order to have a chance to upset Tigres in the leg. Gignac won't play and Saprissa has improved in the last few weeks but expecting them to beat Tigres right now is too much. My lean is on a draw at a value price of +213.
