Alliance of American Football Championship odds

The inaugural season of the Alliance of American Football starts this weekend, with football fans, broadcast networks and bettors keeping a close eye on all the action.

The new professional football league, founded by producer Charlie Ebersol and former NFL general manager Bill Polian, has eight teams that will play a 10-game schedule, followed by a week of playoffs and a championship game in Las Vegas.

The Alliance of American Football will operate as a non-NFL developmental football league and the games will be broadcast on the CBS networks, Turner Sports (on their platforms TNT and B/R Live) and the NFL Network. The games can also be streamed live on the Alliance of American Football app.

The league will have many former college players on their rosters and around 70 percent of the players in the Alliance of American Football were in the NFL in the past 18 months.

The rules are a bit different, the Alliance of American Football implemented include no kickoffs, with possession starting on the 25-yard line after a score and all extra points will be 2-point conversions from the 2-yard line.

Pass-rush rules for defenses allow less than five players to rush the quarterback and blitzing from players in the secondary is not permitted.

How about the overall talent level? It's said that it could be comparable to what would happen if the backups of NFL teams played against each other.

There will be recognizable names, primarily at quarterback: Christian Hackenberg, Matt Simms and Aaron Murray. Some of the running backs have NFL experience, including Trent Richardson, Matt Asiata, Bishop Sankey and Denard Robinson and Scooby Wright and Sterling Moore are familiar defensive players.
