Clemson and Alabama lead list of favorites to win 2020 College Football National Championship

Football season might be over but it's never too early to look ahead at the 2020 College Football Playoff and ponder which team can win the National Championship.

After Clemson beat Alabama 44-16 to win the title, Jazz Sports has them at +150 to repeat as champions while the Crimson Tide are at +200. Georgia at +800 and Michigan, Ohio State and Oklahoma at +1000 round out the top six teams on the oddsboard.

Clemson will likely lose three of the defensive linemen who limited opponents to the third-fewest rushing yards and the second-fewest points per game: Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence, as they're all expected to be taken in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft, but quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne will come back.

Lawrence threw for 347 yards with three touchdowns in the National Championship Game against Alabama and he finished the season with 3,280 yards, 30 touchdowns and four interceptions while Etienne was fifth in the nation with 1,658 rushing and third with 24 touchdowns.

Alabama has reached the last four National Championship games, going 2-2 after falling to Clemson 35-31 in 2017 and 44-16 this year; however, they also beat Clemson 45-40 in 2016 and Georgia 26-23 in overtime in 2018.

Head coach Nick Saban will have with another powerhouse team and it wouldn't surprise me if there's another rematch between them and Clemson. Starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa finished with 3,966 yards while throwing the third-most touchdowns at 43 and only six interceptions. Alabama will also bring three five-star recruits: offensive tackle Evan Neal, defensive end Antonio Alfano and running back Trey Sanders.
