The Trail Blazers look to build more momentum when they visit the struggling Clippers on Monday night.
Bench carries Trail Blazers to big win against Raptors
A big game from the bench helped the Trail Blazers beat the Raptors 128-122 in a potential season-changing victory on Friday, outscoring the Toronto reserves 58-26.
It was an incredible effort from the Portland bench, Zach Collins scored 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting in 21 minutes and he also added four rebounds, one steal, and one block, Seth Curry had his best game since joining the Trail Blazers with 13 points, Nik Stauskas added 13 points and Evan Turner finished with 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Clippers can't complete comeback in Oklahoma City
The Clippers have lost five of their last six games, including their last three, although they put up a fight in their 110-104 road setback against the Thunder last Saturday, when they outscored them 35-24 in the fourth quarter.
Danilo Gallinari matched his season-high with 28 points, Tobias Harris had 22 and Montrezl Harrell added 21 but reigning Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams missed his third straight game with a sore left hamstring and he will not play against the Trail Blazers. Williams is averaging 17.2 points and 4.5 assists in 25.2 minutes per game off the bench and his absence in the last three games has really hurt the Clippers on offense.
The Portland Trail Blazers are:
9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 Monday games
11-5 ATS in their last 16 games against Pacific Division opponents
4-1 ATS in the last five meetings against the Los Angeles Clippers
4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Clippers are:
5-12 ATS in their last 17 games against Northwest Division opponents
1-4 ATS in their last five games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game
1-5 ATS in their last six games overall
These two teams split their first two meetings this season, with the Trail Blazers winning 116-105 on November 8 in Los Angeles and the Clippers earning a 104-100 victory at Portland in the most recent contest on November 25.
When their bench steps up Portland can beat anyone and last Friday's effort against the Raptors proved to themselves what they're capable of and it will motivate them ahead of this contest and carry them to a huge road win.
