The Philadelphia Eagles try to keep their playoff hopes alive when they visit the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. It will be an uphill battle for the Eagles, as Carson Wentz has a fracture in his back and is not expected to play against the Rams. Nick Foles will start and the Eagles won't put Wentz at risk, so he'll likely miss the rest of the season.
Eagles turn to Foles to save their season
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a disappointing 29-23 overtime road loss against the Dallas Cowboys, who outgained them 576-256, had twice as many first downs (32-16), ran 93 plays to 48 and had the ball for 45:33 compared to 22:32 for the Eagles. Super Bowl LII hero Nick Foles has a tall order in hand, going up against a Rams team that will be angry after a tough loss in Chicago.
The Eagles are averaging 254.8 passing yards (12th in the NFL) and 97.9 rushing yards (28th). Philadelphia ranks 21st with 21.6 points per game and 13th with 22.7 points against. Nick Foles has passed for 451 yards, one touchdown and one interception, Josh Adams has 412 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 83 carries and Zach Ertz has 98 receptions for 1,016 yards and six touchdowns. Jordan Hicks has 85 tackles and Michael Bennett has eight sacks.
Rams look to get back on track
The Los Angeles Rams struggled on offense in Sunday's 15-6 road loss against the Chicago Bears. Jared Goff completed 20 of 44 passes for 180 yards with a 19.1 rating, threw a career-high four interceptions and was sacked three times and Todd Gurley ran for a season-low 28 yards on 11 carries.
The Rams are averaging 289.8 passing yards (5th in the NFL) and 132.7 rushing yards (5th). Los Angeles ranks 3rd with 32.7 points per game and 18th with 24.1 points against. Jared Goff has passed for 3,934 yards, 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, Todd Gurley II has 1,203 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 244 carries and Brandin Cooks has 66 receptions for 1,048 yards and three touchdowns. Cory Littleton has 102 tackles and Aaron Donald has 16.5 sacks.
The Philadelphia Eagles are:
3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games against a team with a winning home record
2-5 ATS in their last seven games after allowing more than 250 passing yards in their previous game
2-7 ATS in their last nine games on grass
0-4 ATS in their last four games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game
The Los Angeles Rams are:
4-1 ATS in their last five games after accumulating less than 90 rushing yards in their previous game
4-1 ATS in their last five games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game
Nick Foles hasn't played since Week 2 and having a rusty quarterback in a must-win game is a recipe for disaster. Philadelphia has scored an NFL-worst 28 points in the first quarter while Los Angeles ranks 4th with 77. Jared Goff has a 115.9 passer rating with six touchdowns, one interception and a 73.4 completion percentage in the first quarter and the Rams are 6-0 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, averaging 37.7 points per game there.
