The Los Angeles Lakers look to get back on track when they visit the surging Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night.

Despite suffering a disappointing 108-104 home loss against the Orlando Magic last Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers are 11-8 and LeBron James is getting used to his new teammates and viceversa. This team is proving they're good enough to beat anyone but they tend to play down to their opponent, as seen on Sunday's collapse. Los Angeles didn't build upon their early lead and they just couldn't put down Orlando for good, losing a game they should've won.

The Denver Nuggets are playing without Will Barton and Isaiah Thomas but this team is blessed with a quality bench, making them one of the deepest and youngest teams in the league and they're playing with a poise that many young squads don't have. Denver's rotation is usually 10 players deep, and the scary thought is that Barton, Thomas and possibly Michael Porter Jr. will also help down the road.

The Nuggets are the only Western Conference team ranked in the top-10 in the NBA in both offensive (8th) and defensive rating (4th) and over their last four games, including their current three-game winning streak, the only team with a better defense has been the Lakers.

NBA Trends:

The Los Angeles Lakers are:

6-0 ATS in their last six Tuesday games

5-1 ATS in their last six road games against a team with a winning home record

The Denver Nuggets are:

2-5 ATS in their last seven games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game

2-6 ATS in their last eight games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game

The Under is:

6-1 in Los Angeles' last seven games following an ATS loss

9-2 in Los Angeles' last 11 games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game

6-1 in Denver's last seven home games against a team with a winning road record

6-1-1 in Denver's last eight games against Western Conference opponents

These two teams met on October 25 and the Lakers handed the Nuggets their first loss of the season, 121-114 in Los Angeles behind 28 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists from LeBron James. Playing in Denver is tough, regardless of how good you've been lately. The Nuggets are a deep, tough, relentless team and the thin air there doesn't help.

The Lakers are playing well but Nikola Jokic can be a matchup nightmare like in the first meeting (24 points and 11 rebounds). Will they learn from their problems against him and against dynamic Magic big man Nikola Vucevic? I see the Lakers making the necessary adjustments, keeping this one close enough to cover and I also lean on the Under.
