LeBron James returns to Cleveland for the first time since joining the Lakers. The Cavs have the worst record in the NBA at 2-13 while the Lakers are starting to come together.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers bounced back from a loss at Orlando by beating the Miami Heat 113-97 last Sunday behind a season-high 51 points from LeBron James, who shot 19-for-31 from the field, including 6-for-8 from 3-point range and also grabbed eight rebounds. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 19 points and four rebounds off the bench for a Lakers team that made 11 of 27 3-pointers and outscored the Heat 17-5 in fast-break points.
The Lakers are averaging 116.7 points per game (4th in the NBA), they grab 46.1 rebounds per game (12th), dish out 25.1 assists per game (7th) and allow 115.4 points per game (26th). LeBron James leads the Lakers with 28.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.4 steals, Kyle Kuzma is averaging 16.9 points and 4.8 rebounds and Brandon Ingram adds 15.2 points per game.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off a tough 113-102 road loss against the Detroit Pistons last Monday. Rookie point guard Collin Sexton led the Cavs with 18 points and four assists in the setback and Jordan Clarkson added 16 points, four rebounds and four assists off the bench but the Pistons outrebounded the Cavaliers 56-47 and outscored them 52-34 in the paint and 11-2 in fast-break points.
The Cavaliers are averaging 103.3 points per game (27th in the NBA), they grab 43.7 rebounds per game (22nd), dish out 19.9 assists per game (29th) and allow 111.9 points per game (19th). Jordan Clarkson is averaging 15.4 points per game, Collin Sexton averages 13.2 points per game and Rodney Hood adds 12.9 points per game.
The Under is:
5-1 in Los Angeles' last six games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game
7-2 in Los Angeles' last nine games overall
7-2 in Los Angeles' last nine games against a team with a winning percentage below .400
7-2 in Los Angeles' last nine games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game
7-1 in Cleveland's last eight games overall
6-1 in Cleveland's last seven games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game
7-2 in Cleveland's last nine games against a team with a winning straight up record
15-5-1 in Cleveland's last 21 Wednesday games
Kevin Love (19.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in four games) is expected to return in January after undergoing toe surgery and JR Smith won't be with the Cavs anymore as the team tries to accommodate his request for a trade and they will also be without George Hill (sprained right shoulder) and Cedi Osman (back), so expecting them to put up points when depleted is not realistic. This is a very high total, even with both teams stinking on defense.
