The Chicago Bears look to extend their four-game winning streak when they visit the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day.
Khalil Mack had a sack and fumble recovery and Eddie Jackson returned an interception for a touchdown to help the Bears tightened their grip on the NFC North with a 25-20 win over the second-place Vikings on Sunday night. Mack and Jackson led a dominant effort by the Chicago defense and they took a big step toward their first division title since 2010. The Bears suffocated the Vikings with big advantages in total yards (308-268) and time of possession (34:29-25:31).
Mitchell Trubisky completed 20 of 31 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown and he added 43 yards on the ground but he threw two interceptions, Jordan Howard ran for 63 yards on 18 carries and Taylor Gabriel caught seven passes for 52 receiving yards.
The Bears are averaging 235.0 passing yards (21st in the NFL) and 122.9 rushing yards (10th). Chicago ranks 6th with 29.4 points per game and 4th with 19.5 points against. Mitchell Trubisky has passed for 2,469 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions, Jordan Howard has 523 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 155 carries and Taylor Gabriel has 44 receptions for 478 yards and two touchdowns. Roquan Smith has 70 tackles and Khalil Mack has eight sacks.
Cam Newton threw an incomplete pass on a 2-point conversion with 1:07 to play, allowing the Lions to hold on for a 20-19 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Detroit was in position to win after Matthew Stafford threw a go-ahead, 19-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Golladay with 5:19 left.
Stafford completed 23 of 37 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown, Golladay had eight receptions for 113 yards and his touchdown helped keep his team's fading hopes of saving their season. Rookie running back Kerryon Johnson had to leave the game in the third quarter with a left knee injury and he didn't return after running for 87 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries and his status for this game is questionable.
The Lions are averaging 243.3 passing yards (18th in the NFL) and 100.4 rushing yards (24th). Detroit ranks 20th with 22.2 points per game and 25th with 26.3 points against. Matthew Stafford has passed for 2,605 yards, 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions, Kerryon Johnson has 641 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 118 carries and Kenny Golladay has 47 receptions for 714 yards and five touchdowns. Jarrad Davis has 63 tackles and Devon Kennard has six sacks.
The Chicago Bears are:
4-0 ATS in their last four games overall
6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record
9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games in November
The Detroit Lions are:
4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record
3-11 ATS in their last 14 games in Week 12
0-4 ATS in their last four home games against a team with a winning road record
These two teams met on November 11 in Chicago and the Bears won 34-22 after leading 26-7 at halftime. The Chicago defense has been stellar in the first half, allowing an NFL-best 6.4 points and only 2.3 points in their last three games and it will be an uphill challenge for Detroit, especially if Kerryon Johnson misses this game.
