2023 Miami Open Final Betting Preview
Jannick Sinner and Daniil Medvedev will battle for the trophy of the 38th edition of the tournament, relieving current champion Carlos Alcaraz and putting an end to almost two weeks of top-level tennis.
This ATP event is the second Masters 1000 event of the men’s 2023 tennis season, after Indian Wells. Together they are called the «Sunshine Double”.
It started on March 21st and has been played on the outdoor hard courts of the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, in the United States.
Sinner shocks and knocks Alcaraz out of the Miami Open, he will meet Medvedev in the final
Jannick Sinner (#10 seed) shocked the world in the Semifinals of the Miami Open and took out the #1 seed, #1 in the world, and current champion of the tournament, Carlos Alcaraz, and now he has his sight set on Daniil Medveved and the trophy.
With the loss, Alcaraz will lose his top spot in the ATP rankings, in favor, again, of Novak Djokovic.
During the match, the Italian came back from one set down to beat the Spaniard spectacularly (6-7, 6-4, 6-2), with an amazing performance that could have even given the point of the year.
The 21-year-old has found a groove in the last few tournaments and has been growing like foam, gaining huge respect from his opponents. It is a matter of time before he gets to the top end of the rankings.
Actually, with a win, he will rise from the 11th spot that he is in now to the sixth.
Sinner’s calmness under pressure is remarkable and his movement around the court is impressive. He combines those assets with both powerful forehand and backhand.
His two-handed backhand has even measured as the one with more topspin of all ATP tour players.
Nevertheless, for Medvedev (#4 seed, #5 in the world), probably nothing of the aforementioned above matters.
The ice-cold Russian is in so good shape that he can dictate the flow of his matches with ease.
He is 23-1 in his last 24 matches since the Australian Open and has been in four straight finals, winning on three of them. His only loss came in the Final of Indian Wells, a victim of Alcaraz’s racquet.
The 27-year-old is showing why he got to #1 in the world in early 2022, before being nagged by injuries, and why he has one US Open (2021) and one ATP Finals (2020) trophy home.
He has just lost one set throughout the Miami Open and it was in the semifinals against fellow Russian Karen Khachanov (7-5, 3-6, 6-3), who openly recognized that his countrymate is playing at an out-of-this-world level.
Medvedev will not climb any places in the rankings with a win but could get very close to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud, who are third and fourth on the list, respectively.
In doubles, the favorites to win are Santiago González and Édouard Roger-Vasselin over Nicolas Mahut and Austin Krajicek. This match was scheduled for April 1st.
